Feb 6-10 Portfolios and Inventor

  • Mon - Rim Design and Inventor
    • Inventor Tutorial
    • Inventor tutorial - Let's have a look at Inventor: Interface, sketch panel, tools, dimensioning, model mode, etc.
    • Our first project will get us used to the software and will involve an automobile Rim Design
    • Before you start work on your computer - Please add Agenda page to your Toolbar - Bookmark this page please
    • Don't forget to make a Folder for yourself - LASTNAME - on the E:\ of your computer - BE MINDFUL OF WHERE YOU SAVE!
    • Getting started with Inventor - Rim design
  • Tue - Portfolios - Please Create your portfolio - Send me the link when done!! Share with me ( make me co-owner please)
    • In Chrome - Bookmark in your toolbar this wikipage
    • Please use My Template for this class only TDJ20 - Blue background
    • Assembly drawings and constraining (Creating assemblies and drawing files)
    • How do you put a copy of your Finished Rim on your web page? Screenshot
    • When the rim is complete, save a jpg to your portfolio (TODAY'S Tutorial)
    • If finished Rim, complete the drawings in your drawing package.
  • Wed - Rims, Portfolios and drafting packages
    • Your Rim, Drafting packages and Portfolio Setup are due Today - please finish and hand in
    • Rim design - continue to work on - finished jpg loaded onto your portfolio

    • Are you done creating the RIM? Here's a Design Challenge:
      • Design and draw and Footstool which uses no more than 48" of 1 x 6" Pine
      • See the examples in class
      • Create, the Parts, Assembly drawing Files and upload to your portfolio under a new page "Footstool"
  • Fri - Rim projects are due at the end of class

    • Please make sure your portfolio is complete and your drawings are uploaded
  • Tue - BBG Design - Last day! - Mr McMillan will be here as supply
    • Please finish up your designs and post to your portfolio
    • After constraining your parts in Inventor, Create a drawing file (idw)
    • Bring in your views, dimension and make a parts list
    • Take Screen shot, edit in Photoshop, save as jpg and UPLOAD to web portfolio
    • Create your Procedure list and post your plans required
    • Remove ALL generic instructions

  • Mon - Portfolio Catch up day and Careers in Construction exercise (Classroom)
    • Please complete ALL of your joint frame portfolio (Inventor Drawings, Procedure, Research). These should be posted on your portfolio by the end of class.
    • If you finish your portfolio please read the paper "Careers in Construction". Answer questions 1-5 on the last page and submit to the supply teacher with your name. Word process the answers and print off (Printer is HP 2050 Room 204)

May 15-19 Summative 1

  • Mon - Last day of Joinery - Completed frames due on the mezzanine table at end of the period
    • Don't forget to complete your Joint Frame Reflection!
  • Tue - Summative Introduction
    • Please create and add your Joinery project to the portfolio (same format as before:Research, Design (Plans and procedure) and Reflection pages. Complete all including reflection FIRST, before starting your portfolio)
    • Create your portfolio pages for the summative (Research, Design, Reflection)
      • Material Constraint - 48 linear inches of 1 x 6 pine. If you are using something other than pine for the legs, you must supply these(i.e. twigs, hockey sticks, etc)
      • Design is due Friday May 19 - Research, Inventor, procedure, MasterCAM, etc ALL on portfolio - This Friday
      • Work in the shop starts Monday May 23
      • Due date - Fri Jun 16 - Including Reflection and completed portfolio
      • One week design, four weeks build
  • Wed - Summative design

  • Fri - Summative design
    • Construction begins next week.
